Just get on with your day
You took each step knowingly
Well thought out and willingly.
Each moment lost in pointless thought
In what could have beens
In what should have beens
Is a simple waste of time
Drive me out of your mind,
As you take a step ahead.
Do not dwell upon the past
It never comes again
Look forward with hope and happiness
To a life of fruitful gain.
Live in the moment and forget
The past you left behind
It’s baggage you can do without
Cluttering up your mind
So do not waste time missing me
Just go on straight ahead.
This morning I returned from the funeral of a dear friend’s father. Mr. D was a fine man who lived to the ripe old age of 90. And that is a long time to live. In these years he learnt a lot, taught a lot, earned a lot, loved a lot and lost a lot.
Growing up in Dharwar, he came to Bombay and worked in a textile mill as a mere worker till he was eighteen, managing to send home the major part of his meager salary . He then became a Chartered Accountant and rose to be the finance director of one of the top 50 Indian Multi National companies. He was disciplined to his approach to life and exercised regularly. He had a wide circle of friends and a huge family. His three sons are testament to his ethic of hard work brings success.
There were literally hundreds of people who had come to his funeral – many from a past long forgotten. But they came to honour a man they held in high esteem, a man who worked his way to the top.
May his soul rest in peace.
