The importance of Linking to other blogs

10 great blogs for writers

I have been blogging for several years now and wondering why my blog was going nowhere. I tried asking several bloggers for help but couldn’t really understand what they were saying to me. Finally , now I realised the mistakes I’ve been making. First off, the problem was the name. The original name of chowmiaow was hard to remember and didn’t make much sense to people who often thought it was some kind of pet food or at best related to Chinese food. My blog was a personal blog where I wanted to write about things that happened in my life. I wanted to write about things that interested me. So I would write about food, travel, movie reviews, my city and of course my opinions on everything that mattered to me. This made my blog a veritable dustbin as many people who came to it were hardly interested in all that I had to say.

a) Travel Blog
However, I still have many interests and follow many different blogs that reflect my interests. One blogger I love following is Deepa Krishnan who writes about Mumbai or Bombay. In her recent post on her Blog Mumbai Magic she writes about the recently concluded Marathi Film festival. Sadly very few people even knew about this festival but those who attended swear by the high quality films they witnessed.

b) Art & Craft
Creative housewives have always fascinated me and I find  A Creative Project very inspiring and interesting. Do visit her blog  and you will see what I mean. As a young mother living in a foreign land, with a young child to look after, you can see how she comes up with beautiful ideas to keep her creativity alive and her little boy amused.

c) Good writing
There are some blogs that I read for the sheer pleasure of good reading. Sakshi Nanda is one blogger who never fails to please. Her latest book review will bear out her style and a hint of humour that always leaves you in a happy mood.

d) Business & Economy
Having studied Economics at University, I have always tracked the world’s economic affairs and Keerthika Singaravel’s blog is always informative and pithy. Did you know that  Chinese economy  has overtaken the US economy?

e)  Food
There are several food blogs that I love visiting. One of them is Bawi Bride. Check out this site and also try the fried fish!

d) Technology
Finally I’m a gizmo freak and love trying out the latest gadgets and trying to understand the latest technology particularly related to blogging and the internet. My latest guru Harsh Agarwal  gives great tips on how to have the perfect blog.

f)Motivation & Inspiration
We all need help to get through the day and very often I turn to Corinne’s blogs like this one on Left Handed people brought a smile to my lips!

So I hope these links kind of explain why my blog seems so diverse and short circuited!

This is post is linked to Write Tribe and I hope I’ve understood the topic right!
