Temple Tree #ThursdayTreeLove

Image for Temple TreeWhile shopping at Bhuleshwar during Diwali week I came across this tree that actually doubled up as a temple. Strangely enough this tree was inside the temple compound of Madhav Baug.

For those who may be interested Madhav Baug is in the CP Tank area and is quite unlike any part of Mumbai. With a temple ( and sometimes two! ) on every street, you can find almost all the Gods of India residing here .

And talking of residing and residences, I’m told that Dhirubhai Ambani first lived in the Madhav Baug /CP Tank area when he came to BOMBAY to seek his fortune. Apparently ,the Ambanis still keep that lucky flat.

I must check this out one day.

I’m linking this up with Parul’s bi-monthly feature #ThursdayTreeLove where bloggers are invited to share their pictures of trees Image for Bellybytes

  1. Wow! So people worship the tree AND the God! Its a good thing that the tree was allowed to survive and not cut down to build the temple… And Mumbai will remain Bombay to me as that was what it was called years ago when I grew up there… Obviously CP Tank is a lucky area…. 🙂

  2. Nice to know about this tree! I am amazed how beautifully the tree has found its way to double up as a temple! I know this isn’t an ordinary one!
