Thank you December 2018 #GratitudeCircle #FridayReflections

52 Thursdays and 11 Gratitude Posts.

For someone who wasn’t one for gratitude posts, this is quite a lot !

I have too much to be grateful for and I mistakenly felt that public acknowledgement of my gratitude would attract the evil eye.

But I find that regularly thanking the Universe for the abundance in my life has been satisfying.

So I would like to thank December for a month of jollity.

After Daughter No1.’s birthday early in the month, it was Jingle Bells all the way.

I was lucky to share in the Christmas celebrations of Wow Dinga, Ms Papaya and Little Po.

Both the little ones were adorable in their costumes and did a sterling job at their school concert. Ms Papaya was upset, though ,that there weren’t any Queens or wise women bearing gifts for the young babe. I’m surprised that feminists haven’t tackled that one yet!

December have me the chance to catch up with my folks in Pune . I also managed to meet the next generation and the next at a quick lunch with my cousin.

But all was not smooth sailing . The storm in the teacup was caused by my domestic help . Oftentimes, help is more of a hindrance. Ever since H came to our home, there has been an undercurrent of subversion and by Diwali, things at home reached a peak. H was one discontented creature and was always wanting more. More free time, more money and more freedom to do as she liked . She reneged on the terms of employment with us and managed to squeeze out a month’s bonus. This didn’t go down well with me at all.

But worse still,  when December rolled by, she gave in her notice. Funnily enough, she worked even better after this but by the middle of the month, I was lucky to get someone else. I am grateful that H left as she did because she would have been a handful to get rid of later.

The alert from Goodreads was a wake up call for me to catch up with my reading and update my bookshelf. I have now managed to exceed my goal !

So December , thank you for a fruitful month of joy and celebration.

I would also like to thank Vidya Sury for hosting the #GratitudeCircle and Corinne and Shalini for hosting #FridayReflections.

  1. Sounds like a good month for you. Getting the perfect or rather just a good househelp is very important. I am facing similar music at home. My regular one is off for two months. If only our employers gave us ‘HouseHelp Absence’ leave similar to maternity leave. But thankfully, got someone as replacement and I just have my fingers crossed that all would be well.

  2. Thank you for joining the Gratitude Circle, Sunita! The Universe definitely brings more of what you acknowledge and appreciate….most of the time. In any case focusing on gratitude changes our perspective for the better. I love to read about your tinies! Happy birthday to your daughter! Wishing you lots of reading in 2019 and lots of happiness and blogging joy!

  5. That bit about Feminists not catching up with no wise women bringing presents cracked me up, Sunita. Ms Papaya is most certainly wiser and observant than many of us! Good to know that you had a good and gratitude worthy 2018. Looks like thanking the universe is the best way to ward off the evil eyes, isn’t it?
Continue writing and keep inspiring us in 2018, too, Sunita. Always a pleasure to read you! 😀

    1. Thanks Vinita . I hope to be a better blogger – am planning to take the help of Shailaja in this . I also look to bloggers like you for inspiration . And yes thanking the universe does keep away the evil eye – far better than a pity party

  6. Glad you had a great month, Sunita, full of celebrations with family. 11 gratitude posts – that’s something, isn’t it! I mean it must feel so good to collect your smiles as the month is coming to an end. This is my first gratitude post, I am wrapping up a whole year in this one. Hope I can write monthly gratitude posts like you.

    1. Actually it helps keep track of what you did and didn’t do too . I make a daily note on my phone else the week goes by and I wonder what I did . I’m sure you can do it too ! Look forward to reading your gratitude posts this year….

  7. Nice way to count 11 gratitude posts and linking up with friday reflections is a smart strategy:) happy to know that you could join the christmas celebration and also travel to pune and connect with your loved ones:) focussing on gratitude will always keep one happy and balanced, wishing you a wonderful year ahead, stay blessed.

    1. Thanks Angela. I don’t know about strategy… I find that writing for each blog hop separately is time consuming and counter productive at times….And I am slowly learning that counting one’s blessing helps double them . Just as complaining all the time makes you a grumble bum
