I’d like to be the cat under the tree #WordlessWednesday

With due apologies to the Beatles, I’d like to be this cat under the tree, sleeping in the shade, all curled up.

Mumbai’s sun is beating down.

My trusty maid is out of town.

So is the driver.

Leaving me

With tonnes of work to do.

By end of day

I’m all wrung out and wish that

I could spend my time

Curled up like this kitty cat.

In case you think I’m grumbling, I’m not.

I am actually enjoying my Summertime in a city that is nearly empty.

With schools closed, the roads are clear and even though I am pretty much housebound, I’m enjoying doing housework. This gives me time to do some major clean up and also sharpen my culinary skills.

And while I’m bustling about the house, my Little Po and Ms Papaya are playing their own games of makebelieve. As I catch snatches of their  ‘adult’ conversation in their own baby talk, I count myself among the lucky few who still have lots of things to do.

So before this post gets too wordy, I’d better get back to my busy day.

Sharing this post with Natasha and Esha’s #WordlessWednesday.

A granny who always sees the humour in life and tries to do things differently. When others make cupcakes, this granny makes banana fritters. When she’s not busy chasing her grandchildren who love making her run around, she indulges in her passions of reading, writing, meeting friends and watching movies. And somewhere between all this she enjoys travelling and cooking!

    1. Looking after seniors is quite difficult when you are a senior yourself! I am sandwiched between toddlers, millennials and an octogenarian. Operating at different levels simultaneously is challenging to say the least . Keep smiling …. I’m sure you’ll look back on these days and wonder how fast they went !

  1. Hahah…you made me laugh with your not-so-grumbling poetic verse. You are enjoying your summer even without the help, that is good to know. However, I can sense the tough nature of the quadrilateral you manage with the toddlers, the millennials, the octogenarian and yourself. A couple of days ago I was mulling about being sandwiched between in-laws and the son and your situation makes me feel slightly relieved that a triangle is better than a quadrilateral.

  2. My summer is going to be super busy at work. No cats in my life but sometimes I would like to have the life of one, too.

    1. Glad your summer is perfect ! The only thing perfectly nice about my summer is the lack of cars on the road thanks to the children’s school holidays which means that most people have left the city
