Life’s lessons

We never really learn until we truly learn.
We always make the same mistakes: again and again
We see ourselves standing on a precipice
Yet we make the jump
Only to break our bones
To get up
To climb up
And fall again.

I ask myself
Why don’t I ever learn?
When will I ever learn?
Will I never learn?
But always always
feel the pain?

Is there a reason for this?

A debt I have to pay?

Or, is it simply just that

Life’s lessons are never learnt

Until they truly are.

I’m joining Reema and Vinay with this verse inspired by this week’s  prompt   on #WednesdayVerses: REASON.

A granny who always sees the humour in life and tries to do things differently. When others make cupcakes, this granny makes banana fritters. When she’s not busy chasing her grandchildren who love making her run around, she indulges in her passions of reading, writing, meeting friends and watching movies. And somewhere between all this she enjoys travelling and cooking!

True. There are some life lessons we never learn…even when Life sends them our way, again and again. 🙁

  2. The message this poem conveys is beautiful. Some things are never learnt easily. Thanks for participating in #WednesdayVerses

So true. Life keeps throwing lessons untill we learn from them. Sooner we learn, the better for us. It is important for our growth to reflect and ask ourselves questions, from time to time.

  4. Interesting questions that life poses at times. I guess sometimes we don’t learn and maybe that’s okay? And it helps us reflect and grow anyway? Your blog has a different look Sunita – haven’t been here for a while. I gather you are figuring out what to do with it 🙂

Yes . Do you like the new look ? I am trying out new stuff . One thing I’ve realised is that my blog was a journal which is why not many people found it interesting. I’m trying to make it more objective

  5. That’s the beauty of learning! We screw up and fall off the cliff, that can make us grow. What matters is our attitude to every existential crisis. Told beautifully!
