Six months on #ZombieBlogHop

Image for 6 months into 2019

Six months into 2019 and I am one year older and much, much wiser.

Uncannily my #WOTY Refresh has magically taken over my life. I seem to be doing nothing yet doing something – much like treading water in a swimming pool. Perhaps it is the process of refreshing myself, my blog and my life.

New friendships and new relationships marked the start of the year

When the old broom who swept clean suddenly disappeared.

It didn’t, however, deter me from bringing in the 60th birthday of a friend.

The feasting continuing with  the old college gang,

Refreshing old friendships and making some new.

More celebrations in store in my birth month of February

Before the workmen moved in to refurbish and renovate.

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters hammered and reshaped a

forty-year-old room, bringing it up to date.

Goodbye  heritage Terrazo that outlived its life

And Welcome new bathroom and fancy mood lights.

March saw Wow Dinga turn six

With a splash in the pool.

Pizzas and cake and friends from his school.

A grand nephew twice removed joined the ranks of the twice born

As doting parents, friends and family indulgently watched on.

April added one more year for Hubby Dear and  Mum

While my dad at 87 began another year to march on.

The sun blazed mercilessly in the merry month of May

But Alphonso, Pairi and more family celebrations helped us get through the days.

With rain clouds threatening to bring down the heat

I captured Summer’s sweetness in jars of sweet chutney

And pickles to eat.

Six months into 2019 and the months have sped by in a whizz

I’ve had my share of troubles, sniffles and more.

There have been ups and there have been downs

And I wonder what the next six have in store.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt is

And as the late Doris Day said, “Que Sera Sera.”

Do you often feel that you are just jogging on the spot?

A granny who always sees the humour in life and tries to do things differently. When others make cupcakes, this granny makes banana fritters. When she’s not busy chasing her grandchildren who love making her run around, she indulges in her passions of reading, writing, meeting friends and watching movies. And somewhere between all this she enjoys travelling and cooking!

    1. I hope so too . There’s no fun running to the loo or restricting my eating for fear of running . It’s now going on for four weeks and the doctors are getting a bit concerned

    1. Yes this blog hop has generated a new kind of interest . Actually I enjoy them because you know that at least someone is reading your blog 😉

  1. Aha! Such an interesting and eventful year for you, Sunita!! Loved the way you have captured the events of your life. Wishing that the next six months are equally exciting and enriching for you! Cheers!

  2. The six months had you busy witnessing as well as indulging in events and activities. And thats what I call the life well lived!
I had a hearty laugh when I read the last line, ‘jogging on the spot’. Loved this thought.
Wishing you a great, happening year ahead Sunita.

  3. It was a wonderful poem to read 🙂 A lot happened in the first 6 months. Lots of birthdays, lots of celebrations. You deserve an award for braving the period of renovation in the house. To have workmen in the house while staying there (with the full family) at the same time is tough. Wishing you all the best for the next 6 months and beyond.
P.S. Your eldest grandkid turned 6. Awesome.

    1. Thanks Anamika . It is insane to renovate the house when you are staying in it ..but moving out is worse because you can’t remember where you’ve packed up your things !!!

  4. You seem to have packed in a lot, in the six months gone by, Sunita! I loved how your beautiful poem rhymed as it unfolded with your stories. So much of work, and so many celebrations and special moments to cherish. I am pretty sure it was quite full of joy, happiness and craziness all in the right proportions!!! But the renovation sounds very daunting and you are a brave lady for going with it. I cannot even imagine doing that. Leaving you with wishes, prayers and hopes for an exciting, eventful and fulfilling rest of the year, Sunita.

    1. Thanks Esha . I need all the prayers these days as I’m dealing with personal health issues that are driving me insane . The only good thing is that I am losing weight that I desperately need to lose

  5. Loved reading your life in these six months. Enjoying life at its own pace is the best. Good to hear about your newly renovated house. Wish you luck in the following years

  6. Love this sweet little account, replete with such precious moments. More power to you Sunita. May the rest of 2019, be equally blessed. And may you power through this journey called life, with your chin held high and your unique, infectious spirit.

    Love and light!
